Graphic Designer and Audiovisual Director specialised in Stop Motion Animation, Hugo Covarrubias began his career into animation with the play Maleza (2005), a performance that fuse theatre and stop-motion animation.
Later on, he directed the short films “El Almohadón de Plumas” (2007) and “La Noche Boca Arriba (2012)”, as well as four theatre-animation plays, including “Un Poco Invisible” (2013).
In 2022, Hugo Covarrubias premiered his short film ‘Beast’, being nominated for The Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film.

Based in Santiago, Chile, has established itself as a benchmark in the creation of high-impact visual content. Its productions include the series “Flipos” (2010), “The Adventures of Muelin and Perlita” (2014), “Guitar and Drum” (2019) and “Wow Lisa” (2024).
In 2014, the Chilean studio premiered “Historia de un Oso”, then, in 2016, this piece directed by Gabriel Osorio, became the first Latin American animation to win The Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film, marking a milestone in the history of Chilean animation.

Mexican filmmaker known for her work in stop motion, Sofía’s first venture into the world of animation was the film “Inzomnia” (Luis Téllez). Subsequently, she directed “House of Memory” (2020), a short film that combines stop motion and 2D animation. The project was inspired by his paternal grandmother, Guadalupe, who suffered from Alzheimer’s disease.
In 2021, she joined the project and crew of Guillermo del Toro and Mark Gustafson’s “Pinocchio” (2022) as first assistant director on the Second Unit. She currently serves as production supervisor of the art department at Laika Studios for their new feature film, ‘Wildwood’.

In 2016 he joined a Chilean video game company that took him to the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, where he had the opportunity to visit Pixar Studios. That experience only increased his passion for animation. Since then he has specialised in character animation, helping with his skills and talent in the creation of major international productions. He was then recruited by Framestore, a British animation studio where he took part in the development of VFX films such as “Christopher Robin” (2018) and “Alita: Battle Angel” (2019).
He recently released “Freelance” (2024), his latest project and debut work in which he shows the misadventures of a dragon-slaying knight, an animation that is currently on the festival circuit.

In 2011 he established himself as an animation director, carrying out projects such as “Don Quijote de la Láctea”, “I Hate You Red Light’ and “Hamelin”. In 2012 he created together with Catalina Hernández an unpublished book-album entitled: “Dientes, huesos, chocolates y quesos”. In 2019 he released “Cafecito”, the first chapter of what is now known as “Las Crónicas Elefantiles”, an animated web series, where children between the ages of six and eleven share their own experiences mixing fantasy and reality.
He is currently part of Bardel Studio, where he participated as Lead Animator of the series “Rick and Morty” and part of the animation team of “Solar Opposites”.

Kristian Kim Larsen is an animator from Norway with over 10 years of experience in the industry, contributing to stop-motion films, CG productions, and video games. He studied animation at Volda University College in Norway and The Animation Workshop in Viborg, Denmark.
Kristian began his career working on Louis & Luca and the Snow Machine (2013), the first stop-motion feature produced in Norway in over 30 years. His credits also include work on films like Missing Link and the Oscar-winning Pinocchio (2022), directed by Guillermo del Toro and Mark Gustafson. He is currently animating on Laika’s upcoming feature Wildwood.
