Miguel Otálora

Colombian illustrator and animator with more than 10 years of experience. He graduated as a Graphic Designer from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia in 2005 and in 2010 he obtained his Classical Animation Diploma from the Vancouver Film School.

In 2008 he released his first short film, “The Bet”, which won several awards, including the Jury Award at ShortNonStop Canada and the Best Animation Award at Unframe, a multimedia design festival in Spain.

In 2011 he established himself as an animation director, carrying out projects such as “Don Quijote de la Láctea”, “I Hate You Red Light’ and “Hamelin”.  In 2012 he created together with Catalina Hernández an unpublished book-album entitled: “Dientes, huesos, chocolates y quesos”, which translates as “Teeth, bones, chocolates and cheese”.

In 2019 he released “Cafecito”, the first chapter of what is now known as “Las Crónicas Elefantiles”, a transmedia project, an animated web series, where children between the ages of six and eleven share their own experiences mixing fantasy and reality. 

He is currently part of Bardel Studio, where he participated as Lead Animator of the adult animated series “Rick and Morty” and part of the animation team of “Solar Opposites”.
